Shorter Days Mean a Greater Need for Green – Why Being Close to Nature Matters More in Autumn

In autumn, it is not just the temperature that drops, but there are also fewer daylight hours to spend outdoors. Mornings stay darker for longer, while dusk comes earlier in the afternoon, which makes it all the more valuable when a walk, a quick run or a few quiet minutes outside do not require a long journey or much planning.

That is why easy, everyday access to nature was an important consideration in the design of Dürer Park. Located directly next to Városliget, the development will give future residents easy access to one of Budapest’s largest green spaces, as well as its wide range of leisure and cultural activities.

Staying Active, Indoors and Out

Regular exercise is easier to fit into the day when the right setting is close to home. A morning walk, a short lunchtime loop or a run after work can become part of the daily routine rather than something that needs to be planned separately.

The neighbouring Városliget offers plenty of options for walking and running. As part of the development, we are also creating an internal promenade that will provide a pedestrian and cycling connection between Abonyi Street and Városliget. This means that even a spare half hour can be enough for future residents to go outside and make the most of the daylight.

On cooler, rainier days, or after dark, staying active will still be just as easy. Each of Dürer Park’s three residential buildings will have its own gym, reserved exclusively for residents of that building. The gyms will be accessible from inside the buildings and will also include changing rooms and showers. This means residents will be able to choose between exercising outdoors and working out at home, depending on the weather and what fits best into their day.

Autumn Plans for Every Kind of Weather

Városliget offers plenty of ways to unwind in autumn. Alongside walks among the changing leaves, runs and outdoor meet-ups, it is also easy to find something to do on cooler or rainier days.

The House of Music Hungary, the Museum of Ethnography, the Museum of Fine Arts and Kunsthalle Budapest all host exhibitions and events throughout the year. Having nature and culture this close together is especially valuable, as it makes it easy to find something to do no matter the weather, without having to travel across the city.

Greenery Starting Right Outside Your Door

Being close to nature is not just about having a big park nearby. It also makes a difference when greenery is part of the place you come home to every day.

At Dürer Park, we are creating a nearly 11 000 square metre park between the buildings, along with walkways and landscaped communal areas, while additional green spaces will be added to the rooftops. The garden will build on the existing greenery, with new native plants added throughout.

These spaces go beyond the purpose of aesthetics: they can offer places for a short break, an everyday walk or spontaneous meet-ups with neighbours. This way, greenery becomes part of daily life from the moment you step outside.
